Project Joy!
Hello friends! Today I am super excited to share a new option at Lauralloons, Project Joy!
Many times after an event, our clients have asked us what happens to the balloons (that they don’t want to take home). Well…they get popped! Some people have asked me if it makes me sad to pop the balloons, but if they have served their ‘purpose’ and made it through the event they are intended for, that makes me happy. But what about balloons that still have a lot of life left in them? Surely there is a way that they can continue to bring Joy to others?
This is where the idea for Project Joy came from: figuring out a way to continue to use balloons after their intended event to spread joy. It took some thinking to figure out logistics (Where would they go? Who would want them? How would we coordinate it? Etc.) And I am pleased to announce that our first Local Project Joy Partner is the Duluth Public Library! I reached out to them about our idea and we have come up with a way we think will work best for everyone!
How does it work? Every event is different, but when we get an inquiry that we think would be a good fit for Project Joy, we add an optional checkbox to the client’s contract to see if they want to donate their balloons after their event to Project Joy. There is no extra cost to the client, no cost to the library, and no one is making any extra money off of the balloons.
This is great! I want my to donate my balloons! Yay! Once you click the box in your contract for donating your balloons we take it from there! When we return to take down your event we will save the balloons we plan to deliver to the library and take care of the rest.
I’m picking up my balloons, can they still be part of the program? Currently we are offering this option only for delivery orders that include take down, that way we can save the right amount of balloons, and deliver them as soon after the event as possible to maximize their enjoyment.
I don’t want my balloons to go anywhere else That’s perfectly ok too! This is an opt-in project. If you would rather your balloons not go anywhere else, we will dispose of them properly for you.
Project Joy is a work in progress, so things may change as we figure out the right flow. I hope that eventually we will be able to add more public partners to our list of places that will receive balloons.!
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out. I would love to know your thoughts on Project Joy so that we can better spread balloon joy through Duluth and the Twin Ports area.
